The "Ten Commandments" is mentioned in the Book of Exodus Chapter 34, verse 28: "Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments."

The Burmese translation of that Bible passage is: "ထိုအရပ်မှာ မောရှေသည် အစာကို မစား၊ ရေကို မသောက်ဘဲ။ အရက်လေးဆယ်ပတ်လုံး ထာဝရ ဘုရားအထံတော်၌ နေလေ၏။ ကျောက်ပြားပေါ်မှာ ပဋိညာဉ်စကား၊ ပညတ်တော်ဆယ်ပါးကို ရေးထားတော် မူ၏။
