The Political Compass သည် နိုင်ငံရေးအမြင်ကို ခန့်မှန်းခြေတိုင်းတာပေးသောဝက်ဘ်ဆိုက်တစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။ မေးခွန်း ၆၂ ပုဒ်တွင် ဖြေကြားထားခြင်းကို အခြေခံ၍ နိုင်ငံရေးစပက်ထရမ်၏ မည်သည့်နေရာတွင်ရှိသည်ကို နေရာချပါသည်။[၁] မေးခွန်းဖြေကြားပုံမှာ နိုင်ငံရေးအကြောင်းအရာကို "အလွန်သဘောတူသည်၊ သဘောတူသည်၊ သဘောမတူပါ၊ အလွန်သဘောမတူပါ" ဟူသောအဖြေများထဲမှ တစ်ခုကိုရွေးချယ်ရမည်ဖြစ်သည်။[၃]
ထိုဝက်ဘ်ဆိုက်သည် ယူနိုက်တက်ကင်းဒမ်းနိုင်ငံတွင် ထည်ထောင်ခဲ့သည်ဟုဆိုကြသည်။[၄][၅] ဝက်ဘ်ဆိုက်၏မူပိုင်ခွင့်ကို နယူးဇီလန်နိုင်ငံရှိ "Pace News Limited"[၆] ဟူသောကုမ္ပဏီမှ ပိုင်ဆိုင်ထားသည်။ ထိုကုမ္ပဏီ၏ ဒါရိုက်တာမှာ ဝိန်း ဘရစ်တန်ဒန် (Wayne Brittenden) ဖြစ်သည်။[၇] "The New York Times" သတင်းစာသည်လည်း ထိုဝက်ဘ်ဆိုက်ကို ဘရစ်တန်ဒန်မှ ပြုလုပ်ထားသည်ဟုဆိုခဲ့သည်။[၁] တွမ် ယူတလေ (Tom Utley) ကမူ ထိုဝက်ဘ်ဆိုက်သည် "The World Action" ဟူသော ပရဟိတဝက်ဘ်ဆိုက်နှင့် ချိတ်ဆက်ထားသည်ဟုဆိုသည်။[၃] ထိုဝက်ဘ်ဆိုက်၏ အစောပိုင်းဗားရှင်ကို "The World Action" ၏ဆာဗာ၌ တည်ထောင်ခဲ့သည်။[၈]

The Political Compass ၏ စပက်ထရမ်သည် ဝင်ရိုးနှစ်ခုပါသောပုံစံကို အသုံးပြုပါသည်။ ရေပြင်ညီဝင်ရိုးသည် စီးပွားရေး လက်ဝဲ-လက်ယာ ဝင်ရိုးဖြစ်သည်။ လက်ဝဲဘက်သည် တိုင်းပြည်စီးပွားရေးကို အစိုးရကိုယ်တိုင် ထိန်းချုပ်လိုခြင်းဖြစ်ပြီး လက်ယာဘက်သည် တိုင်ပြည်စီးပွားရေးကို အစိုးရမဟုတ်ကိုယ်ပိုင်ကော်ပိုရေးရှင်းများက ကိုယ်ပိုင်ထိန်းချုပ်လိုခြင်းဖြစ်သည်။ ဒေါင်လိုက်ဝင်ရိုးမှာ လူမှုနည်းအရ အာဏာရှင်-လွတ်လပ်မှု ဝင်ရိုးဖြစ်သည်။ အပေါ်ဘက်သည် အာဏာရှင်ကိုလိုက်နာရခြင်းဖြစ်ပြီး အောက်ဘက်သည် လွပ်လပ်စွာနေထိုင်ရခြင်း ဖြစ်သည်။
