English: A. The matchlock gun with button, which came to Lisbon from Bohemia, ended up being used by the Portuguese along the Atlantic and Indian Ocean coastlines, until the conquest of Goa in 1510.

B. The Indo-Portuguese matchlock gun resulted from the combination of Portuguese and Goan gunmaking. The Goa Arsenal was an inheritance from the conquest of this city, taken from the Moslems by the Portuguese. The House of the Ten Thousand Guns was however work of the Viceroys. The arms made there were scattered all over Asia.

C. The Japanese matchlock gun appeared as a copy of the first firearm introduced in the Japanese islands. One of the Indo-Portuguese matchlock guns was taken by the Portuguese from the Goa Arsenal to Japan, where it was to be copied for more than three centuries.
