I rather tell thee what is to be feard.No doubt there may be a few rough and readyreaders of the above title who would ask or put thequestion— What art can there be in taking a set ofharness off a horse ? or say— I can soon rip it off, andwithout any ceremony. The writer would answer—ifthere is no art in the business of releasing or unburdeninga horse with the easiest and quietest despatch, after itshard days work, or perhaps after a long and tediousjourney under the broiling sun, there is at least a certainamount of judgment and consideration necessary; and itis, therefore, the successful horse-keepers rule that acertain system shall be laid down and regularly adheredto. It is the general practice, in fact it may be said to bethe universal custom, in undressing or taking a set ofharness off a horse, to commence at the driving reinbilletts, by unbuckling the same from the bit, and bringingthem back to the hind part or territt of the saddle.
