The main ground ofthe compartments is of small meshes; here and there the intervening groups of ornamentare lightened by the insertion of fancy open bars. Mechlin Lace. Before 1665, nearly all lace made in Flanders was called Malines. The pillowlaces of Ypres, Bruges, Dunkirk, and Courtrai were so named in Paris.
